Tuition increase approved for first time in four years

Miami University's board of trustees finance and audit committee approved a 3 percent tuition increase for in-state and out-of-state undergraduates at the board of trustees meeting June 25.

This is the first tuition increase for in-state undergraduates since fall 2006, said David Creamer, vice president for finance and business services.

Creamer said the amount of state appropriations that was offered to the Oxford campus for this fall will be less than what was provided in 2000.

"This is one of the problems we've talked about in trying to meet the financial aid of students in the absence of state reports," Creamer said.

The board is expecting a net revenue growth of slightly more than 2 percent from the tuition increase, according to Creamer.
