Miami is again hosting events this year to celebrate Information Security Awareness week. Events take place on the Oxford campus on Monday & Tuesday, October 8-9. All presentations will take place on Tuesday in the Shriver Center Multipurpose Room C.

The first presentation of the day will come from David Barnes, a 21-year veteran of the FBI.  His presentation, “The Science of Digital Forensics” will cover the services provided by the Miami Valley Regional Computer Forensics Laboratory to local law enforcement and how they process digital evidence.  David has been involved in computer forensics for 14 years, and has worked Cyber investigations, including online predators and computer intrusions matters.  He is currently the Director of the Miami Valley Regional Computer Forensics Lab in Dayton, and has been in that capacity for the past 7 years.

JD Rogers, Director of Information Security for Great American Financial Resources, Inc. will also present at this year’s event. His presentation, “Security Trends from Black Hat & Defcon” will take place at 10:00 am. This discussion will be a whirlwind tour of some of the latest trends in security and hacking. These techniques come from some of the top minds in the security space as well as some of the top hackers in the world. Mr. Rogers will share a few of the more interesting topics that he was able to pick up at this year’s conference.

There will also be a Mobile Device Security presentation at 3:30, delivered by Joe Bazeley, Miami’s Information Security Officer.  An information booth will also be available near the Food Court from Noon to 2:00 pm.

On Monday, October 8 there will be an information booth set up in the King Café from Noon to 2:30 pm.
