In response to students' ever increasing need for more Internet bandwidth, Miami University is introducing a new service called "ResNet Turbo."
Currently all students living in the residence halls have basic access to the Internet via both wired and wireless connections with speeds up to 1.5 Mbps based on bandwidth availability. With that already in place, what is so great about ResNet Turbo?
- It provides access to higher bandwidth connections for a per-semester fee
- Is available via the wired or wireless network in any residence hall (does not operate in academic buildings)
- It provides a minimum bandwidth of 1.5 Mbps up to an average of 5-10 Mbps (actual service will be determined by the number of ResNet Turbo users connecting at the same time)
- It will deliver streaming video without interruptions from buffering – even HD from Netflix or YouTube
- It works with any computer or other device that can authenticate to the MU-WIRELESS network using Miami credentials, Currently devices such as XBOX 360 and Wii cannot be connected to ResNet Turbo.
Students can sign up for ResNet Turbo on the Housing and Dining MyCard website (https://www.hdg.muohio.edu/MyCard/). The prorated cost for this semester is $35, with a full semester cost of $75 beginning in the spring.
