Tech Tip | IT Services Events Highlight Start of School

Randy Hollowell, IT Services

Wireless Tent Event

For the second straight year, IT Services is hosting a traveling tent event throughout campus. Students are encouraged to visit the tent to receive assistance with connecting to MU-WIRELESS, Miami's preferred Wi-Fi network. Students can also receive information on wireless connectivity options, register in a drawing for one of two Flip video cameras to be given away, and pick up information about other technology services on campus. Visit the IT Services website to view a complete list of times and locations.

NOTE: Swoop will be attending the event at the Shriver Center on Wednesday, August 31 from Noon to 1:00 pm, so bring your friends and get your photo taken with Miami's number one fan.

Student Technology Advisory Committee (STAC)

IT Services is looking for students to preview new software, pilot new products and set the future for student computing and technology at Miami!

As a member of STAC you meet with the leadership of IT Services to provide input and advice on issues relating to student information technology. Computer knowledge is not required, but a willingness to speak out and provide the student perspective is. Monthly meetings are scheduled on Wednesday afternoons at the Shriver Center or King Library.  Please consider joining this exciting group by completing an online applicationtoday.

Niihka Update

Hands-on Workshops are still available. These drop-in sessions feature Niihka transition experts providing individual assistance.  No registration is required. A complete schedule of these workshops is available at the Training and Support sitewithin Niihka.

If you would rather learn Niihka on your own, or you need a refresher on how to do something you learned in a formal training session, see the latest Miami-specific Niihka training videos.
