Voter scams impact absentee ballot voting across Ohio

With the November election rapidly approaching, Ohio residents have already begun receiving absentee ballots through the mail. The Butler County Board of Elections began sending ballots on Oct. 8, which can be returned anytime between now and 7:30 p.m. on election day. 


Nancy Strzelecki visits the Hamilton County Board of Elections on Sept. 30 with 51 more official voter challenges. Of those 51 voters, 47 of them she believes moved to North Carolina.

Cleaning up Ohio’s voter rolls

On Jan. 23, Nancy Strzelecki sat in the second row of a Hamilton Board of Elections meeting. The meeting began like any other. Board member Gwen McFarlin called the meeting to order at 8:39 a.m., and all board and audience members who were able and willing rose for the Pledge of Allegiance, led by any and all active or retired military personnel present at the meeting.

Oxford and Miami communities express concerns with OPD external report

Ongoing concerns regarding the external investigation conducted by the Oxford Police Department (OPD) and Officer Matthew Blauvelt’s use of force employed on Devin Johnson on the morning of Nov. 18 outside Brick Street Bar found their way to the public participation section of the April 16 city council meeting. 


Police Chief Jones said OPD will undergo new training in the near future to focus on de-escalation.

OPD concludes external report from November incident; finds no evidence of excessive force

The Oxford Police Department (OPD) has announced the conclusion of its external investigation of the incident between Officer Matthew Blauvelt and Miami University student Devin Johnson. According to a statement released on April 3, the team conducting the investigation determined that Blauvelt was compliant with department protocol and did not use excessive force against Johnson.
