RedHawks win ugly against Western Michigan

Miami hockey has shown promise after a discouraging start, compiling a 4-10-2 record so far this season. The team's next game is at home against the Minnesota Duluth on Jan. 29. The puck drops at 7:05 p.m.
Miami hung tough against the best team in the MAC, losing 90-81. The RedHawks play in Millett Hall on Saturday, Jan. 30 against Western Michigan.
After a long drought, the Miami basketball teams seems poised to go after its first winning season since 2009. The RedHawks will play Toledo at home on Tuesday, Jan. 26.
Volleyball started off strong with a weekend series sweep over Buffalo. Head coach Carolyn Condit picked up her 750th win during the series.

The Miami RedHawks will not be hosting Kent State this Saturday, as the game has been canceled due to COVID-19 cases within the Golden Flashes’ program. The cancellation comes as the state of Ohio hit a new record of 585 new hospitalizations on Dec. 1, as well as 9,030 new cases. Miami Director of Athletics David Sayler has indicated that despite the cancellation, the RedHawks would still like to play this Saturday.
With the 38-7 win at Akron, the Miami RedHawks improve to 2-1 and pick up the 700th win in program history, becoming the first Mid-American Conference (MAC) program to reach that mark. Miami’s next game will be at home against the Kent State Golden Flashes on Dec. 5 at noon. The game will be televised on CBS Sports Network.
The victory marked the first time Miami has claimed its opening game since 2017, Jack Owens’ first year in Oxford.
Miami’s men’s and women’s cross country teams have had a promising start to their shortened season, with both teams finishing in first place at a meet against Ball State on Oct. 30. Both teams will run in the MAC Championship on Nov. 21.
In a critical year for head coach Jack Owens and his players, the Miami men's basketball team will look to build on its momentum from last March, when its season ended abruptly after a first-round win in the MAC tournament. Despite losing star player Nike Sibande, the team brings back experienced talent like senior forward Dalonte Brown and junior guard Isaiah Coleman-Lands. The RedHawks will open the season at home on Nov. 25 at 1pm against North Dakota.
The Mid-American Conference (MAC) announced on Sunday that the Ohio University at Miami University football game, originally scheduled to be played Tuesday, has been canceled and will be declared a “no contest.” The RedHawks’ next scheduled game is Nov. 28 at Akron.
The Miami women's basketball team will add an influx of new talent this year, including five freshman and two transfers. The RedHawks will have to find ways to win this season despite losing its two best players, point guard Lauren Dickerson and center Savannah Kluesner. The team will open the season on the road against the Wisconsin Badgers on Nov. 25.

Despite the success of the previous season, the team has no delusions of grandeur and is fully aware of the challenge that awaits it.
