Ohio holds a series of partisan elections to select its State Supreme Court justices. Three of the seven seats on the court are up for election this November. Six candidates are running: three Democrats and three Republicans.
With the November election rapidly approaching, Ohio residents have already begun receiving absentee ballots through the mail. The Butler County Board of Elections began sending ballots on Oct. 8, which can be returned anytime between now and 7:30 p.m. on election day.
This election cycle, The Butler County ballot has 11 different tax levies on it. They range from funding for different Butler County school districts to fire, police and other public service levies. The primary tax levies that affect the Oxford community are Issue 2, Issue 10 and Issue 12 – levies that fund services directly used by Miami University students.
Between Oct. 7 and Oct. 14, Oxford police responded to 17 incidents, according to Oxford Police Department’s reports.

Miami University reached an agreement with the city of Oxford to provide funding for the Oxford Fire Department (OFD), but it’s contingent on the approval of Issue 2. Under the deal, the university will contribute $1.27 million annually for the next 10 years to the fire department.
