I believe that unionization would be a step backward for faculty.
“Can we separate the art from the artist?” This debate questions whether it is morally correct to consume an artist's work if they have been accused or found guilty of a hateful or otherwise wrong act. I am taking it in a different direction: can the science be separated from the scientist?
So, like the Luddites before me, I decided to try to rid myself of the technologies taking away my humanity. I bought a Nokia feature phone.
I promise you, Bell Tower Place needs very little overhauling. I think I speak on behalf of the student body when I say that we don’t want this campus’s favored dining hall to be changed or redone — we just want it to be open.
As leaders in the Division of Student Life, all of whom reside in Oxford, we are opposed to the DORA expansion.
Now it’s mid-April, and the trends about Ukraine have quickly passed, but the war has not.
Earlier this month, Ohio legislators introduced HB 616, which would disallow curriculum or instruction pertaining to “diversity, equity and inclusion” (including Critical Race Theory and Intersectional Theory), and — like Florida’s “Don’t Say Gay” law — would prohibit or censor curriculum or instruction about sexual orientation and gender identity, from kindergarten through high school.
If I asked you to picture a student with disabilities, chances are you probably would not envision me.
Miami University has plenty of beautiful buildings all across campus, including academic buildings, residence halls and even dining halls. But one that sticks out like a sore thumb is the steam power plant directly behind Peabody Hall.
Every year, Miami has increased the cost for housing and meal plans for the incoming fall students. Not only has it been steadily increasing over the years, but it’s been increasing right below the cap.
Oxford’s economy is certainly strong enough during the school year to survive without a DORA, and bringing the consumption of alcohol to the outdoors would likely cause more problems than it would solve.
My name is Cosette Gunter, and I’m at the very beginning of a new chapter in my life. And actually, I think a lot of you are too.
You may have noticed, upon returning from spring break, that you can see all the way from Upham Hall to King Library now, without any leafy obstruction in your way.
With 20,000 students, we should have a recreation center that accommodates the size and needs of our student body.
Small things like that make me realize that I’m not the same as my undergraduate peers anymore. This social barrier is not something that I would like to see continue.
I wish you could see us now. You’d hardly recognize us – in a good way.
The Miami Student has consistently been reporting on the race for SBP and the three pairs of candidates. We also feel that it is also important to give our opinion on who we believe will represent the Miami community best.
As my final soapbox moment as a student, I’ve compiled a list of things that I’ve learned from navigating the past four years as a sober Miami student.
I chose everything in my college experience on a whim. After being happily sucked into the current, I’m about to be spit back out into real adulthood.
