Now is the time to start thinking about our neighbors

I personally don’t give a flying fuck about serving men, nor should any other woman.
These people, whom I affectionately refer to as “my coding friends,” may not know my name or where I live. But that doesn’t mean I’m not incredibly close with some of them.
One would have expected the tens-of-thousands of dollars in tuition would be enough to cover a few extra subscriptions to online papers.
When she started, she was told she would have to change her major, because forensic investigation was no longer offered. Now she has become undecided and will more than likely major in something that doesn’t satisfy her as much.
These things aren’t just far-off ideas for legislation that gets debated in the court of public opinion. These are things that are actually happening, and they are affecting real people.
We want solid relationships with decision makers so that we can report full and honest stories — something we strive for every day.
When Tuesday went by without a word from the school, now four days since I’d been identified as a close contact, my anxiety turned into anger.
I remember us saying we wished we had some sort of proof so we could tell everyone what was happening.
Miami’s reputation for being a top school for undergraduate teaching is in serious jeopardy if this continues.
I pressed myself to the window and just watched, wide-eyed and open-mouthed, as these gigantic, fluffy snowflakes hurtled down toward us from the sky above. It was the most ethereal thing I had ever seen.
Obviously things are different right now, but that’s why it’s important to actually try to engage when you get the chance.
Look, it’s not like it’s a bad thing to have students who come from money. But, when you have a lack of balance between students from different economic backgrounds, that’s when you start to create an exclusive and problematic environment for students.
Look, I get it — money is great. But not when unethically going against the wishes of the Stander family.
For me personally, though, this Valentine’s Day wasn’t just different because of the impossibility of subverting a Western subculture of capitalism and spending money.
Grief is a microcosm of life – and life is beautiful.
It’s odd to have had to say good-bye to experiences so early. It feels premature somehow, but all we’ve been asked to do this year is adapt. And we have, again and again.
And though fraternity hazing is publicly criticized for its outward displays of toxic masculinity and violence, sorority recruitment acts as an alternative form of hazing plagued by toxic and detrimental female stereotypes.
More than anything, I hated my million small flaws that stood in the way of perfection.
But I will still forever be grateful for the mask. After all, what if my eczema flares up horribly again? What would I do without the patterned cloth to distract from my face?
