TMS-hosted 'City Matters' forum talks alcohol, hazing

Last Wednesday, The Miami Student hosted a public safety forum, City Matters, which was attended by Oxford and Miami officials. The event was moderated by assistant news editor Ceil\0x03AF Doyle and editor-in-chief Emily Williams. It covered topics including the Good Samaritan policy, recent hazing allegations against Miami fraternities and town-gown relations in Oxford.

NIOT leaders start to organize initiative

Oxford's Senior Citizens building was open briefly on Sunday afternoon, a rarity for the center, which is usually closed on the weekends. Inside the main room, long tables were pushed together and latecomers sat in circular tables in the back.

Intercultural group improves cultural competency

On Wednesday afternoons, part of the Health Services building turns into a temporary hub for students from all different backgrounds to share foods from their cultures while Fred Shueh makes bubble tea. Some days just a few students come to the meeting, while other days, as many as ten gather to share their stories and hear from others.

Miami students will see eight new representatives speaking on their behalf in the Miami University Associated Student Government (ASG). The current board elected eight new Senators in a series of special elections in its Tuesday Feb. 13 session in 304 Harrison Hall.

Ali Preissing was sitting in a quiet library in Italy when she got the news. In the midst of studying for her J-Term exams, the email pinging in her inbox told her that all her hard work was beginning to pay off. She was a semifinalist for the Fulbright U.S. Student Program.
