ASG supports student agriculture movement

Behind Miami University's Marcum Center are two greenhouses. Both look old and worn down. Grimy windows are covered with declarations of love and graffiti written in sloppy handwriting. Behind locked doors are empty flower trays -- the metal crates which used to hold green foliage are now home to spider webs and excess tools left behind.

Miami participates in Parkland demonstrations

Miami University students plan to add their voices in the upcoming demonstrations in response to the Feb. 14 shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. School walkouts and marches, organized by students across the nation, will peacefully for an end gun violence.

'City Matters' Forum Talks Alcohol and Hazing

The Miami Student hosted a public safety forum, City Matters, last Wednesday, attended by Oxford and Miami officials. The event, moderated by assistant news editor Ceil\0x03AF Doyle and editor-in-chief Emily Williams, covered topics including the Good Samaritan policy, recent hazing allegations against Miami fraternities and town-gown relations in Oxford.

OFD sees recent jump in alcohol EMS runs

During a weekend jam-packed with events -- the conclusion of sorority recruitment, Miami University's 2018 Charter Day Ball and Brick Street Bar & Grill's 6 a.m. opening for the Winter Olympics U.S. v. Russia men's hockey game -- 24 individuals were transported to the hospital for alcohol-and-drug-related EMS calls.

In a show of student support -- and a rare move of legislative coordination -- Miami's Residence Hall Association (RHA) and Associated Student Government (ASG) unanimously passed twin feminine hygiene care bills last week.
