Miami football game against Kent State canceled due to COVID-19

The Miami RedHawks will not be hosting Kent State this Saturday, as the game has been canceled due to COVID-19 cases within the Golden Flashes’ program.    The cancellation comes as the state of Ohio hit a new record of 585 new hospitalizations on Dec. 1, as well as 9,030 new cases. Miami Director of Athletics David Sayler has indicated that despite the cancellation, the RedHawks would still like to play this Saturday.

RedHawks look to start 2020-21 strong following March momentum

In a critical year for head coach Jack Owens and his players, the Miami men's basketball team will look to build on its momentum from last March, when its season ended abruptly after a first-round win in the MAC tournament. Despite losing star player Nike Sibande, the team brings back experienced talent like senior forward Dalonte Brown and junior guard Isaiah Coleman-Lands. The RedHawks will open the season at home on Nov. 25 at 1pm against North Dakota.

Week 2 Preview: Miami faces high-flying Buffalo Bulls

A ridiculous interception by redshirt senior linebacker Ryan McWood set the RedHawks up with first and goal with mere seconds left on the clock, and redshirt senior running back Zach Kahn punched it in for the game-winning score, finalizing a 38-31 Miami victory over Ball State in Week 1.  Now, the RedHawks look to improve their record to 2-0 against the Buffalo Bulls in what looks like a tricky matchup for the RedHawks.

Face masks are necessary sacrifice for Miami football

Every single player and coach for the Miami RedHawks will wear masks on the field this season.  “(Wearing a mask) isn’t fun, but it keeps us safe, and it’s gonna help keep me from getting (COVID) if one of my teammates gets it,” redshirt junior safety Sterling Weatherford said. “And I want to play football, so I’ll do what it takes.”
