The number of students registered for both formal Panhellenic and Interfraternity recruitment dropped between 10 and 15 percent this year, according to Miami's Cliff Alexander Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life.
Miami's Pi Beta Phi chapter has been shut down, according to a press release Monday from the organization. Known as "Pi Phi" to Miami students, the Miami chapter was "plagued with violations and a lack of commitment from chapter members," according to Pi Beta Phi nationals.
If you ask anyone on campus if Miami University has a certain "image" many students would answer yes. Anyone who would disagree would have to just take a look around and notice the plethora of Lululemon, Vineyard Vines, Patagonia, and various other brand names that make Miami... well... Miami. Sometimes I see all three on one person plus that Louis Vuitton tote bag, and I'm thinking to myself, "I bet half of your closet is the amount of my semester's tuition"
Panhellenic Pride and Greek Service Week will cap off a successful semester for the organization.

In recent years, several Miami fraternities have been suspended for hazing and prohibited use of alcohol. With some facing such a checkered past, recolonizing a fraternity may seem a difficult task. Yet, that is exactly what the new faces of Sigma Chi are attempting.
