A few rows behind him sat several former members of the Delta Tau Delta (Delts) fraternity, and just a few feet to his right stood another: Joshua Plaster, who had just pled guilty to hazing him.  Nine of the 18 former Delts charged in October pled guilty to hazing and received their sentences in court on Tuesday, Feb. 25, which mostly consist of fines.

Benjamin Hizer, an 18-year-old Oxford resident accused of shooting a minor during a drug deal, pled guilty to felonious assault in relation to the incident. 

Former first year who threatened to kill police has case dismissed

The Butler County Court of Common Pleas decided not to prosecute former Miami University first-year Mark Moraski, who was accused of threatening to kill police.

Miami University first-year student Mark Moraski was arrested for threatening to kill police officers, rape their daughters and mothers, and skin their families alive, according to Butler County court records.  Miami University Police Department (MUPD) charged Moraski for retaliation, assault on a police officer, aggravated menacing, underage possession, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct on Nov. 17 at Dennison Hall.

First year faces charges for child pornography, sexually assaulting a minor

Devon Marion, a first-year at Miami University has been charged with three counts of creating or distributing child pornography and four counts of unlawful sexual contact with a minor under the Butler County Circuit Courts.

Miami student faces animal abuse charges

A Miami University student is facing animal cruelty charges after an Oxford Police Department (OPD) officer said she found the student’s dog starving and sitting in its own urine.  Sophomore Zichang Li is being charged with cruelty to animals, a second degree misdemeanor. If convicted, she faces 90 days in jail and a $750 fine.

The Oxford Police Department (OPD) has identified the man who shot a 17-year-old on Sunday, Oct. 6.

Delts face jail

Eighteen current and former Miami University students and former brothers of the Delta Tau Delta (Delts) fraternity have been charged with a total of 68 counts of misdemeanor assault and hazing. The charges come one month after Miami suspended the fraternity for repeatedly assaulting a new member last spring during a fraternity brother Big/Little Reveal event.
