Fall semester starts with a COVID-19 outbreak

  After her high school years were disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic, Miami University junior Autumn Allen stepped onto campus in August excited for a taste of normal. Three days later, the media and communication major tested positive for COVID-19. And she wasn’t alone.

Four years later, Miami’s first class impacted by COVID-19 is ready to graduate

For many students at Miami University, it’s easy to recount the trials that came with the COVID-19 pandemic: physical distancing, masks and contact tracing. Usually students just beginning their college years associate the time with freedom, new friends and social experiences they’ll always remember. Unfortunately, for many current Miami seniors, their experience was not what they expected.


The Starbucks location on High Street closes at 8 p.m. and remains closed until 5:30 a.m. during the week.

Missing my late-night coffees

Maybe it’s because Oxford is approximately 10,000 miles away from the closest civilization or because it’s too difficult to get staff that’ll accept low pay. Either way, about once a week, I find myself in desperate need of a late night snack or a 2 a.m. coffee, with nowhere to go. 


Butler County announced it has recorded its first case of monkeypox just hours after Miami warns students of the risk associated with the disease.

Miami warns students of monkeypox virus

Miami University’s Division of Student Life sent out an email to student warning them of the rising risk of the monkeypox virus. Just hours later, the first case of monkeypox was discovered in Butler County.
