Movie theater etiquette is still important

If you’ve been on social media at all recently, chances are you are familiar with the chicken jockey scene from“A Minecraft Movie.” For those of you fortunate enough to have avoided this, fans have been screaming and throwing things after Jack Black delivers the line, “chicken jockey.”When I’m home from school, I work at a movie theater. Because of this, I’m very passionate about movie theater etiquette, something that seems to have been forgotten recently. Look, I’m all for having fun at the movies. It’s part of what makes the group viewing experience so special. But throwing popcorn and making a mess on purpose? That’s just unnecessary.

Here are 4 hidden gem restaurants you need to try in Oxford

As a self-proclaimed shopaholic, I have a lot of clothes. I can thank countless hours spent at Goodwill for that. Unfortunately, my eccentric style doesn’t always translate well to the professional world. So, for the past few weeks, I’ve taken on the task that many have before me: purging my closet of all of my “inappropriate” clothes.Like a lot of other girls, I often put on a silly little outfit to go out on the town, but these short skirts and spaghetti straps won’t cut it in the office. However, I’m attached to my clothes and determined to make the best of the situation. So, what’s my game plan?

Asst. Culture Editor Ayla Peden watched "Freaky Tales," and it was... interesting.
CULTURE

‘Freaky Tales’ is precisely what it sounds like: Freaky

As I walked into the cinema this past Thursday to watch Pedro Pascal’s latest film, “Freaky Tales,” I realized that I had no idea what the movie was even about. I read online that it was an action/comedy with the star of “The Last of Us” as one of the film’s leads. What more do you really need to know?Evidently, a bit more than that, because the first 10-15 minutes left me very confused.

Junk journaling: the origins and its rise in popularity today

TikTok has a way of reinventing ideas as the “new” trend, bringing longtime practices to light, and junk journaling is no exception. I discovered the concept of junk journaling two months ago when I looked up ‘journal’ on TikTok. I expected ASMR videos of writing journal entries to pop up, but I found creators sharing the content of the pictures, drawings, stickers, wrapping paper and more in ‘junk journals.’  I love scrapbooking, so what struck me about this practice?

Culture editor Stella Powers thought "Snow White" was a magical experience.
CULTURE

Disney’s ‘Snow White’ is magical and doesn’t deserve the hate

From a very young age, I dreamed of being a Disney princess. Ballgowns and princess dresses flooded my costume chests, and the Disney version of Pretty Pretty Princess was by far my favorite game. Disney princess DVDs lined my shelves and the Disney FastPlay advertisement constantly replayed in my head. Princesses were my favorite. When I heard they were making a live-action “Snow White” film, I was skeptical. Excited, but skeptical nonetheless. When Rachel Zegler was announced as the star, my excitement grew.
