ASG passes Food Institute, livestream bills

During their most recent weekly session on Feb. 28, ASG Senate approved a senate resolution which creates a task force to act as a liaison between Dining Services and Miami University's Institute for Food. The resolution was introduced in order to ensure that both the institute and dining services were on the same page concerning the sale and distribution of the Food Institute's produce and to eliminate any miscommunication between the two organizations.

Construction expands student center, builds new residence halls

Miami University students can look forward to several new building projects and renovations wrapping up over the end of this semester and the beginning of the next, including Armstrong's east wing, Western Campus's bridge, the renovations at Clawson and Hamilton Hall and the construction of two new residence halls on North Quad.

Engineers Without Borders to construct movable greenhouse to for Food Institute

Engineers Without Borders (EWB) is a national student-run service organization, focused on engineering solutions for those in need. A little over two years ago, Miami's chapter completed a water supply project in Chaguarpamba, Ecuador. They are currently working on projects for communities in Uganda and Rwanda and will travel to both places in the next few months.

Drinking is nothing new on college campuses. It's also an activity students rarely hide, except from local law enforcement, RAs and maybe parents. Drinking to blackout, or to bring on total memory loss for periods of time, is also nothing new, but it's becoming increasingly popular among students -- despite the fact that many don't what it really means to black out.

ASG discusses proposed textbook price limits, prepares bill

Ohio Gov. John Kasich has recommended that public higher education institutions limit the cost of textbooks to no more than $300 per year. Miami's ASG Senators enthusiastically knocked on their desks to show their support when the initiative was announced at their meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 21.

Student body presidential campaigns begin

The election season for 2017-2018 ASG Student Body President and Vice President kicked off yesterday, Feb. 24. The 10 hopeful candidates, all of whom are running in two-person slates, were given just over two weeks to campaign before the primary election on March 13 and 14.
