After splitting last weekend's two-game series with National Collegiate Hockey Conference opponent Colorado College, the Miami hockey enters its second weekend of conference play in search of two wins. The RedHawks will need to play a disciplined, puck-management focused game as they compete against No. 2/4 North Dakota tonight and tomorrow in Grand Forks.

Miami hockey rallied from a 2-1 deficit against National Collegiate Hockey Conference opponents Colorado College to win 3-2 in overtime. Freshman forward Casey Gilling sent the game to overtime and junior forward Josh Melnick had the sudden-death goal that gave the RedHawks their first conference win of the season.

Miami hockey swept the University of Connecticut this weekend in dominating performances. The RedHawks (3-3) shutout the Huskies (2-5) 3-0 on Friday and commandingly finished the two-game series with a 7-1 win on Saturday. The 'Hawks played an aggressive offensive game and a tight defensive game to secure the victories -- minimizing mistakes from their previous three losses.

Miami hockey will play the University of Connecticut tonight for the first time ever as the RedHawks' last series in their season-opening stretch. The 'Hawks look to beat the Huskies at home with improved special teams and determined play with and without the puck.

In two high scoring games, Miami hockey found themselves on both sides of the score as it split this weekend's non-conference series against the University of Maine. Still struggling to battle back from deficits, the RedHawks (1-3) went up early in Friday's game to eventually win 7-5 but fell behind early in Saturday's game to ultimately lose to the Black Bears (2-2) 6-3.

Miami's head volleyball coach Carolyn Condit earned her 700th career victory on Saturday evening with a 3-0 win over Eastern Michigan. This came after her 600th win as a RedHawk in a 3-1 win over Central Michigan on Friday evening.

Miami hockey opens the 2017-18 season at home tonight at 7:35 p.m. with a non-conference game against the No. 5 Providence Friars. The RedHawks look to bounce back from last season's 9-20-7 record (5-14-5 National Collegiate Hockey Conference) with the help of returning captain senior defenseman Louis Belpedio and seven freshmen.
