2 years going on 60: The East Coasters who planted their roots in Oxford and never left

Outside a little home on Whitetail Run in Oxford, Roxy, a golden retriever mix, waited patiently to greet her owners’ guests on a brisk-Sunday morning. Inside the single story house, Hardy Eshbaugh was cleaning up the dishes of the pancakes his wife, Barbara Eshbaugh, had made earlier that day. Although the couple had lived at the Knolls of Oxford Retirement Community for less than a year, every inch of the house was decorated with souvenirs from their travels, motifs of chili peppers and family photos.



Ohio House committee approves bill overhauling higher education, DEI programs, clearing way for vote

On Wednesday, Dec. 6, the Ohio House of Representatives Higher Education Committee voted to pass the Ohio Higher Education Enhancement Act, also known as Senate Bill 83 (S.B. 83) in an 8-7 vote. The bill will go to the entire state House for a vote. If it passes there, it will head to Governor Mike DeWine’s desk for final approval.




Student organization holds community march in support of Palestine

As the sun set Thursday night, Miami University students and Oxford residents gathered outside Armstrong Student Center waving Palestinian flags. Members of the crowd held signs of support, handed out flyers with information on the attacks in Gaza and the Israel-controlled West Bank and provided information on how to call members of Congress.












Dormitory’s new name honors former Miami president

In 2006, David Hodge began his tenure as the 21st president of Miami University, where he worked to create the Myaamia Center, oversaw the construction of the Armstrong Student Center, led Miami’s geothermal efforts for sustainability, launched a $100 million campaign to increase student scholarships and more. Although Hodge retired in 2016, his accomplishments will now receive permanent recognition on Western Campus.
