Miami University released new course load requirements to its deans across campus on Dec. 3, 2024. The requirements are calculated based on the workload equivalent (WLE) system, a new system implemented by Miami. The revised requirements, which would go into effect fall of 2025, would increase the number of courses for most professors.

I’m excited to go home. Like every other college first year, I miss my dog, good food and warm showers. I also love the holiday season, when I spend time with close family and friends. But this holiday season, what I’m really looking forward to is leaving my phone in another room.

It was the Friday before Thanksgiving week. I was worrying about what to wear so I didn’t contract hypothermia on my way to Spanish class and trying to figure out who was going to be picking me up to drive me back home for break. I wasn’t worried about my classes for the spring semester. I had enough problems without adding course scheduling on top.
