Miami committee recommends Cook Field for site of potential new arena

OXFORD – A committee of Miami University faculty, staff and alumni has finished its review of locations for a proposed multipurpose arena and has recommended it be built on Cook Field. The recommendation was sent to Miami President Gregory Crawford who will take it to the Board of Trustees at its next meeting on Feb. 27-28.


Miami announces potential locations for new basketball arena

Miami University released two potential locations, Cook Field and the corner of Southwest Quad, for a new on-campus basketball arena in a recent release and email to students. The Cook Field option shows the entire field, both the grass and artificial turf areas, as the proposed location. The Southwest Quad location is where Bonham House, Joyner House, Wells Hall and Williams Hall currently stand.






Student inboxes plagued with email responses before IT fixes issue

Miami University students received more than 100 emails between just after 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. due to what Miami Information Technology Services said was a "misconfiguration on some of the email lists." Between 12:30 p.m. and 12:55 p.m., members of the MUOXFUND email list received more than 105 emails.





Miami University’s transition to Workday creates issues for employees

Miami University’s campuses underwent a change that hadn’t been made in nearly 25 years.  This summer, roughly 4,000 Miami employees had to change pay and funding systems to Workday, a software used for finance, human resources and student information, just a few months before more than 20,000 students returned to Miami’s Oxford, Hamilton and Middletown campuses.





National protests spread to Miami’s campus

In the past weeks, student protesters in support of Palestine at Columbia University and New York University erected encampments in solidarity and were arrested for breaking university guidelines. On Miami University’s campus, more than 15 students participated in a walkout on April 19 in support of students who were arrested at Columbia. The event was arranged by Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) and took place between Roudebush Hall and the seal in the center of academic quad on Miami’s campus.


Adam Savage captivates with stories of his winding career

When Adam Savage walked on stage in the Wilks Theater in Armstrong Student Center at Miami University on Tuesday, the audience would’ve been satisfied if he talked about “Mythbusters” for an hour. Instead, Savage explained his treasure map of a career path while sprinkling in advice for the students in the crowd.
