The Miami University ice hockey team won its first CCHA Championship Saturday, and with it an automatic bid to the 2011 NCAA Hockey tournament.

After a decisive 6-2 victory over the University of Notre Dame in the semifinal on Friday, the RedHawks defeated Western Michigan University by a score of 5-2 in the Championship game Saturday night at Joe Louis Arena in Detroit, Mich. The victory clinched Miami's first ever CCHA postseason title, and also secured the team a number one seed in the NCAA tournament for a second straight season.

The RedHawks, unbeaten in their last 13 contests, will face off against the fourth-seeded University of New Hampshire Wildcats March 26 at 4 p.m. in Manchester, N.H. The game will be shown live on ESPNU.

Miami is joined as a number one seed by Boston College, Yale University and University of North Dakota.
