Police beat

Couple passes out in unfamiliar kitchen

At 2:30 a.m. Sunday, officers responded to a criminal trespass call at 117 E. Church St.

Police reportedly spoke with a Miami University senior who said she was awakened by her housemates screaming.

The residents reportedly found a male and female they did not recognize passed out on their kitchen floor. The female was reportedly unclothed from the waist up and the male was snoring. The residents were reportedly unable to wake either of them.

When police arrived, the male was wandering in the hallway with a dazed look on his face. He was identified as Michael Noell, 22. Noell reportedly told police he had been drinking earlier in the night.

Officers were reportedly unable to wake the female and the life squad was called to care for her. She was identified as Miami senior Erika Wells, 22. After she awoke, Wells reportedly told police nothing improper occurred between Noell and herself and that they were friends.

Noell reportedly told police he did not know whose house he was in, but Wells had invited him inside. Wells reportedly said she did not know who lived in the home either but went in anyway.

Noell and Wells were each charged with criminal trespass.

Luxembourger receives DUI charge

At 2:15 a.m. Sunday, officers driving on Main Street observed a vehicle quickly approaching the intersection of Main and Spring streets. The officer believed the vehicle was not going to stop but then stopped suddenly in the middle of the intersection.

The officer stopped the car and found the driver to have bloodshot, glassy eyes, slurred speech and the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from the car. The driver, identified as Miami University junior Alexandre Scholer, 21, reportedly gave the officer an Ohio identification that said he was a non-driver and documents from Luxembourg. Scholer reportedly told police his Luxembourg driver's license allowed him to drive in the United States, and he was not sure why the Ohio ID did not.

Scholer reportedly admitted he had consumed a couple drinks throughout the evening. According to police reports, Scholer performed poorly on field sobriety tests and a Breathalyzer showed his blood-alcohol content was 0.22.

Scholer was cited for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated, driving without a license and failure to stop at a stop sign.

Junior breaks apartment windows, hyperventilates

At 2:30 a.m. Saturday, officers driving on East Church Street reportedly heard banging and glass breaking coming from near the Bella Place apartments. When they investigated, they reportedly found a female in 20 E. Park Place breaking windows out with her boot.

The female, identified as Miami University junior Kari Volden, 20, reportedly had an odor of an alcoholic beverage on her breath, glassy, bloodshot eyes and seemed disoriented.

As she spoke to police, Volden reportedly looked away and covered her mouth in an alleged attempt to prevent the officers from detecting the scent.

Volden reportedly told police she was trying to get to her roommate, but she did not live there.

When police attempted to arrest her, Volden began to hyperventilate. A friend reportedly returned home and tried to calm her, but she was eventually taken to McCullough-Hyde Memorial Hospital.

Volden was charged with underage intoxication and friends agreed not to press charges for the broken windows.
