Male mistakes Campus Avenue for Beech Street

At 2:30 a.m. Monday, officers responded to a call at 708 S. Campus Ave. regarding a subject knocking and pounding on the front door.

When police arrived, they reportedly found a "young-looking" white male at the front door. He was identified as Miami University student Timothy Linz, 20.

The officer reportedly detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage on Linz's breath.

Linz reportedly said he had been drinking at several uptown bars and thought he was at a friend's house. Linz reportedly believed his friends were playing a joke on him and would not let him inside.

When the officer asked Linz if he knew where he was he reportedly said he was on Beech Street.

Linz was cited for underage intoxication.

Student tells police he should 'get his gun'

At 1:30 a.m. Sunday, OPD officers responded to a call from MUPD regarding a suspicious male at 308 E. Church St.

The MUPD officer reportedly saw a male near the intersection of Church Street and University Avenue follow two females who passed him while going to a residence on Church Street. The girls reportedly went inside and shut the door causing the male to knock until a male from inside told him to leave.

The officer then reportedly observed the male approach 308 E. Church St., lost sight of him and then approached him.

As the male walked toward the officer he reportedly said, "I guess I better get my gun."

The officer reportedly handcuffed the male and identified him as Miami University student Eric Wilber, 20. Wilber reportedly had an odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath and glassy eyes. His coat was reportedly on backwards and his pants were falling down.

Wilber reportedly told the officer he had consumed two beers earlier in the night and he was looking for a friend's house.

Wilber was charged with underage intoxication.

OPD responds to tiff between mother, son

At 7 p.m. Thursday, officers met with a female Oxford resident who said she had gotten in an argument with her son, Miami University student James Bowman, 19.

The woman reportedly told police she had given Bowman money to do laundry, but he did not do it. She said she later found him in his room consuming alcohol with a friend.

The female reported Bowman had shoved her into the kitchen pantry when she approached him about the laundry. When she looked for the money, Bowman allegedly pushed her on the bed and put his hands around her neck. The female did not find the money.

The woman reportedly left the room before Bowman allegedly pushed her in the bathroom against the bathtub.

Bowman had reportedly left the residence before police arrived but was located by Butler County Sheriff deputies at a friend's house.

Bowman reportedly told police his mother had given him money to do laundry and go to the store. He reportedly said he tried to do laundry but all of the machines were full so he went to his room with a friend and fell asleep. Bowman reportedly said his mother later woke him up yelling at him.

According to police, Bowman had a previous domestic violence charge.

Bowman was charged with domestic violence and taken to Butler County Jail.
