Male receives two citations within hours

At around 1 a.m. Saturday, a male reportedly approached two police officers outside the Oxford Police Department (OPD) and told them he wanted to make a complaint.

The male reportedly told officers he had been at The Woods Bar earlier in the night when an officer attempted to arrest him for public intoxication, but the male resisted because he "knew his rights."

The male reportedly had the odor of alcohol on his breath, slurred speech and was unsteady on his feet.

The male reportedly told the officers his name was Andrew Harris and when the officers put out a call to other OPD personnel inquiring about him, no one responded.

The male reportedly made several insensible statements, telling officers he was from Massillon and repeating that he "knew his rights."

When officers asked him where he lived, the male reportedly gave several different addresses before producing a driver's license that identified him as Miami University junior Michael Lindsey, 21.

Lindsey reportedly told police he had told them a different name because he "did not want to get in trouble." Lindsey was cited, but reportedly continued to act bizarre.

Lindsey reportedly began speaking in military style and asked to be released to the Border Patrol. Lindsey then refused to take back his driver's license.

Lindsey also reportedly clamped his hands together tightly behind a chair in the OPD lobby and told officers he was handcuffed even though he was not.

At this time, several OPD officers returned to the station, where one reportedly recognized Lindsey because he had been kicked out of The Woods Bar the previous night.

A computer search reportedly revealed Lindsey lived at 116 W. Collins St., and officers reportedly contacted his roommates, who agreed to take care of him.

When they arrived at his residence, Lindsey reportedly screamed and told officers not to hurt him as they opened the car door and he refused to use his hands to get out of the vehicle.

Officers reportedly told Lindsey not to leave the house for the rest of the night.

Approximately an hour later, Lindsey returned to the lobby of OPD, where he reportedly continued to act bizarre.

Lindsey was placed in a holding cell, where he was reportedly vocal and obnoxious for another hour and a half. Once he had calmed down, Lindsey was issued a second ticket and taken home.

Lindsey was cited for two counts of disorderly conduct.
