Police cite sophomore for drunk driving

At 2:30 a.m. Thursday, an officer observed a vehicle stopped in front of Skipper's Pub with reverse lights on and the passenger door open.

Police said the vehicle stopped at the intersection of Campus Avenue and High Street and failed to signal before heading southbound on Campus Avenue.

The driver, later identified as sophomore Clair Christofersen, 19, reportedly crossed over the lane marks to the northbound lane where she almost struck a parked car.

Police stopped Christofersen's vehicle in front of Wells Hall. Christofersen didn't respond when the officer approached the vehicle and reportedly opened the driver's side door because her windows were frozen. Christofersen told the officer she was driving her friends home from the bars and she had not been drinking.

While speaking to Christofersen, police detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage, perhaps inside the vehicle. The officer asked Christofersen to step out of the vehicle to perform field sobriety tests. The other female passengers said they were not sober enough to drive the vehicle, so it was towed and Christofersen was taken to the police department.

Christofersen was cited for operating a vehicle impaired, underage intoxication, failure to use turn signals and crossing marked lanes.

The stabbing appeared to have happened when the victim and a known suspect were arguing over money the victim owed the suspect. The two got into a fight and the victim was allegedly stabbed numerous times in the lower abdomen and upper right thigh.

Police said McCoy's eyes were red and glassy. McCoy's friend approached and told police McCoy had been kicked out of the bar. The friend tried to help McCoy to his feet, but McCoy remained unsteady.

When officers asked for McCoy's identity, he refused to give them the correct information, stating he did not have a last name.

McCoy was arrested and taken into custody at Oxford Police Department.

McCoy needed help walking in to the building, and asked police to carry him. While in the building, McCoy got sick, and police found identification in his pocket.

McCoy had warrants through West Chester and was cited for obstructing official business and disorderly conduct.
