Third time's the charm for accused sophomore

Officers were conducting a bar check at The Wood's Bar, 17 N. Poplar St., around 11:54 p.m. Friday when one officer recognized sophomore Christopher Schebil at the bar from two prior arrests. The officer approached the boy, placed his hand on his shoulder, and felt the suspect's muscles tense up.

The officer asked 19-year-old student Schebil if he had turned 21 over the summer. He hung his head and mumbled, "No."

He walked to the station with the officer, where two driver's licenses were found in his wallet: his actual Michigan license and a fictitious California license making him 21. He was cited for underage offenses, certain acts prohibited and was issued a summons and released.

Scandals and a six pack: underage cited

Around 2:23 a.m. Thursday, an officer in the 100 block of West High Street observed a female walking with what appeared to be a six pack of beer and a single beer in her right hand, according to OPD.

The officer approached Miami junior Katherine Taylor and noticed that the 12 oz. bottle of Sierra Nevada Torpedo IPA was half full.

Taylor appeared extremely nervous and stammered multiple times while giving her name, as though she could already see herself in next week's police beat.

Taylor admitted she was 20 and was cited for open container and underage offenses. She was released.
