All signs point to guilty: female thief is caught

Around 2:47 a.m. Sunday, an officer observed a group of people trying to steal a "Road Closed" sign at the intersection of South Beech Street and West College Avenue.
The sound of the cruiser's opening door was immediately followed by that of the sign hitting the ground and footsteps scattering in every direction.
The officer noticed a female due to her distinctive clothing and pursued the subject through backyards and side yards. Though the officer attempted to keep up, the subject was lost.
However, since the primary officer was able to deliver a solid description of the female, a second officer soon identified sophomore Kelsey Loss sitting on a porch, according to OPD.
When approached, Loss attempted to flee into the residence but was stopped by the officer, who then asked for identification. Loss refused to produce an ID upon several requests and was informed that if she did not comply, she would be taken into custody.
After being taken into custody, she was positively identified by the original officer as a sign-stealer, according to OPD. 20-year-old Loss' identity was also confirmed. A Conn. ID was also found on her person, which neither belonged to her nor was legitimate.
Loss, visibly drunk, was at a loss for words, as she seemed only able to repeat questions back at officers rather than answer them, according to OPD.
Loss was cited with underage offenses, obstruction and attempted theft, according to OPD. Due to her staunch uncooperativeness, she was taken to Butler County Jail, according to OPD

Real-life frogger darts into street, punches cars

Around 1:05 a.m. Sunday, an officer arrived near the intersection of South Main Street and Linden Avenue in response to a male actively punching passing cars.
Senior Jacob Pauley was found darting into traffic and punching moving vehicles, according to OPD. If that were not enough, he was doing so outside of a marked crosswalk.
Pauley, bearing a noticeable hand injury, was positively identified on the scene by the complainant, who claimed Pauley had punched her car.
While awaiting the life squad, called in response to Pauley's car-battered hand, the officer inspected parked vehicles for damage. She was unable to find damage, but did find a large amount of blood smeared across a windshield, according to OPD.
Pauley, after having deliberately fought moving vehicles, exclaimed, "Do you realize how smart I am?" while being cited by the officer, according to OPD. He then proceeded to argue with the officer. After citing Pauley for disorderly conduct, the officer, unwilling to argue as the matter was settled, told Pauley he could leave, which he refused to do.
After officers told him he could leave, Pauley was told he must leave, at which point he turned around, cussed at the officer, and threw his wadded up citation at her face.
Another officer grabbed Pauley in an attempt to have him retrieve his citation. After a short scuffle, Pauley was taken into custody. He resisted handcuffing and was charged with a second account of disorderly conduct, according to OPD. He was taken to Butler County Jail.
