OPD arrest disgruntled, harrassing ex-roommate
Around 11:57 p.m. Friday, an officer spotted a visibly intoxicated man walking toward Oxford Opticians.
When unsteady Miami University senior Kory Magee reached a fire escape, he began to urinate. The officer approached Magee midstream and issued him a ticket for disorderly conduct, according to OPD.
Held up by the officer, Magee managed to amble up to the cruiser. His speech was slurred and loud. He was driven back to his residence at Hawks Landing, where he was deposited, according to OPD.
Around 2:53 a.m. Saturday, officers were dispatched to Hawks Landing in reference to a trespasser. A Miami senior called OPD after Magee, his chronically and doggedly disgruntled ex-roommate, had refused to leave his front door, according to OPD. Magee fled when he realized the senior was calling the police. Magee was not found on the scene.
Around 3:27 a.m. Saturday, officers were dispatched to Hawks Landing in reference to telecommunications harassment. An agitated Magee had inundated the same senior ex-rommate with a barrage of phone calls, leaving three voicemails in a nine-minute span. Two of the voicemails were deemed threatening after an officer's review, according to OPD.
Magee was located at his residence fifteen minutes later and found inebriated. He admitted to leaving the voicemails but insisted he threatened no one.
It was then discovered in early February, Magee had been sent to Butler County Jail after rapping on doors and windows and eventually gaining entry into the apartment containing his ex-roommates, including the senior. Subsequently, a no-contact order between Magee and the senior was issued at the time and had thus been broken early Saturday morning, according to OPD.
Magee was cited with telecommunications harassment and menacing, and he was released, according to OPD.
Around 4:24 a.m. Saturday, officers were advised of a drunk driver leaving Hawks Landing. In the midst of the telecommunications harassment investigation, another officer followed Magee's vehicle speeding down Brown Road toward Beech Street. He was pulled over and his identity was discovered, according to OPD.
After failing each sobriety test, a deliberate Magee, who was wearing a wristband, was taken into custody, charged with OVI and again taken to Butler County Jail, according to OPD.
