Pitch Perfect, NBC’s newest film, is getting quite a lot of hype for its October 5 release. Miami University students, however, will have a chance to get an early viewing. The Princess Theatre will be screening the movie 7 p.m. Thursday, September 20.
This new laugh-out-loud film opens with Becca (Anna Kendrick), a girl who’d rather listen to what’s coming out of her headphones than what’s coming out of you. Arriving at her new college, she knows she doesn’t fit in, but somehow finds herself muscled into a motley crew of girls whose only thing in common is how good they sound when they sing together.
When Becca takes this acoustic singing group out of their world of traditional arrangements and perfect harmonies into all-new mash-ups, they fight their way to the top of the cutthroat world of collegiate a cappella. Becca and the gang realize this will either be the coolest thing they ever do or the craziest – or maybe both.
Loaded with new takes on old favorites and mash-ups of current chart-toppers, Pitch Perfect is directed by Jason Moore, who brought the misbehaving puppets of Avenue Q to life in the surprise Broadway sensation. Based on the non-fiction novel of the same name by GQ Magazine’s Mickey Rapkin, this is a movie that looks to have something for everyone. And with other stars such as Elizabeth Banks, Brittany Snow, Rebel Wilson, and Christopher Mintz-Plasse sharing the spotlight, Pitch Perfect sets expectations high.
The September 20 screening of Pitch Perfect isn’t the only film that NBCUniversal plans to bring to Oxford this year, as several screenings for upcoming movies will be announced in the future. But for now, clear your schedule and head to the Princess to see the movie with the coolest sound around this fall.
The viewing is free and first-come first-serve.
