Student opera to feature international director

With the direction of a visiting international scholar, the department of music will feature two one-act operas at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 19 to 21 at Hall Auditorium.

Mihaela Bogdan, resident stage director of the Romanian National Opera Cluj, will be directing "Suor Angelica" and "Gianni Schicchi." Both operas premiered in 1918, the first being a tragedy and the second a comedy.

Mari Opatz-Muni, director of the opera program, enjoys her position and finds it unique because of the number of undergraduate participants compared with other larger universities.

Tickets are $8 for students, $12 for adults and $10 for senior citizens and are available at the Miami University box office, by calling (513) 529-3200 or online at http://www.tickets.muohio.edu.
