Miami University's 1981 senior football captain Don Treadwell is back for a victory lap in the new year. Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Brad Bates named Treadwell head coach Dec. 31.

Treadwell was Michigan State University's offensive coordinator for four years and previously coached at University of Cincinnati, North Carolina State University, Ball State University, Youngstown State University and Boston College since his 27-year coaching career took off.

Treadwell graduated from Miami in 1982 with a bachelor's degree in physical education.

The same night as Bates' announcement, outgoing Miami University Head Football Coach Michael Haywood was arrested in South Bend, Ind. for domestic violence, according to local NBC affiliate WNDU.

Haywood was named the new head football coach at the University of Pittsburgh Dec. 15.
