Miami announces plans for indoor practice facility

Miami University has announced plans to build a $13 million indoor practice facility. The facility will be used by all 19 of Miami's varsity sports and will be paid nearly in full through donor contributions.

The facility will also be used by intramural and club sports and youth athletic tournaments.

"I want to thank the Board of Trustees and President Hodge for allowing us to move forward on this incredible project," Athletic director David Sayler said in a press release. "When we bring recruits to campus, we want our facilities to reflect our commitment to the student-athlete experience and our vision for where Miami athletics is going. This, combined with the recent addition of coach Chuck Martin, continues the positive momentum for Miami Athletics."

The facility will feature a full-length artificial turf football field, and a netting area for sports such as golf, baseball and softball. The facility will also have four 100-yard sprint lanes, a long jump pit and a high-jump area.

Construction of the 91,000 square-foot facility is expected to begin in March. The facility will be built behind Yager Stadium.
