McNabb's accomplishments show readiness for presidency

What an exciting school year we have had so far. With a historic presidential election behind us and the inauguration later today, I am thrilled with the increasing political awareness and involvement of students throughout campus. This week, our campus embarks on its own exciting election cycle with the start of the Associated Student Government elections. I have seen the face and mission of ASG grow prouder and stronger over the years, and now in my fourth and final year here at Miami, I am proud that our school has a strong leadership poised to carry it forward.

Last Tuesday, Jonathan McNabb submitted a guest perspective to the paper about his time serving as the VP of Student Orgs for ASG, and it painted a picture of one of the most dedicated student servants here at Miami. I have never served on ASG, but I have been privileged to see him in action first hand. In announcing his candidacy for Student Body President, Jonathan made clear how dedicated he is to Miami and students. Since he took his post as VP of Student Orgs last year, he has kept a low profile, vying to stay busy. And his work has paid off-from the overhaul of the entire funding process, to the new web site serving student organizations, it is evident his goals have become reality. If you ever had a class with Jonathan, you know he is a bright guy, but when you speak with him one-on-one, it's his honesty and humility that are most evident. As a graduating senior, I am proud to support Jonathan and his vision of a strong and active Miami and I hope you will join with me in electing him as our next Student Body President.
