King puts high-demand textbooks on reserve

Staff

King Library has a collection of textbooks from the 50 most heavily enrolled courses available for free checkout. According to an email from First Year Experience Librarian Lindsay Miller, copies of textbooks from classes such as COM143 (Introduction to Mass Communication), ECO 201 (Principles of Microeconomics) and MTH151 (Calculus 1) will be placed on reserve at the circulation desk on the first floor of King library. The texts will be available for checkout on a two-hour basis. The availability is a product of the Textbook Initiative created in 2007 as a supplement to President Hodge's Access Project. The initative aims to increase access to textbooks that are required in highly-enrolled classes that often cost over $100, according to Miller. A complete list of available books can be found at www.lib.miamiOH.edu.
