Awards season has finally come to a close with the Oscars ceremony on March 2. Now that we no longer have to worry about who’s going home with a win, it’s time to discuss arguably one of the most important aspects of the Oscars: the red carpet outfits.
Each year, celebrities flood the carpet with a variety of outfits, ranging from stunning to questionable to sometimes even atrocious.
Compared to years past, with the exception of Cynthia Erivo (apologies to Erivo, the dress was on theme for “Wicked,” but not cute), Zoe Saldana, Gal Gadot and Rita Wilson, this year's outfits ended up, for the most part, positive. There also seemed to be a bit of a theme going on, with simple, elegant and shiny dresses being a trend on the carpet.
However, of the various celebrities in attendance, who dressed the best?
10. Margaret Qualley
While her outfit was simple, the star of “The Substance” donned a velvet-like, black gown accompanied by bold, silver jewelry. Though Qualley herself wasn’t up for any awards, she made her presence known and left her mark on the carpet.
9. Rachel Sennott
Sennott, known for her work on “Saturday Night” and “Bottoms,” wore a bejewelled pink dress. The cut of the dress itself was fairly simple, but the shiny pink accompanied by matching eyeshadow and silver jewelry made the look stand out. It stayed on the trend of elegant and shiny while also being unique and giving the look a pop of color with the pink.
8. Andrew Garfield
Garfield ended up being the only man to make this list, and there’s a reason why. While a lot of men in attendance looked nice, most wore plain, black suits that weren’t anything special. Garfield, however, wore all brown, putting a unique twist on the traditional suit look.
7. Mikey Madison
Not only did Madison take home the award for best actress (which she absolutely deserved), she also stunned on the red carpet. Madison donned a stunning, chunky silver necklace, partnered with matching accessories and a shiny, pink long dress with a matte black top.

6. Monica Barbaro
Also rocking the pink theme, Barbaro, nominated for best supporting actress for her work in “A Complete Unknown,” wore a pastel pink gown accompanied by a sparkly, silver top. She paired the look with more silver jewelry, something which seemed to be a common trend on this year’s carpet.
5. Ariana Grande
Grande absolutely served Glinda with this gorgeous, baby pink dress with a bulky, seemingly bubble-inspired, tulle-like skirt. Paired with a silver necklace and slick-back bun, this “Wicked” look shows off Grande’s tattoos, elegant style and beauty. Glinda would be proud.
4. Amelia Dimoldenberg
Known for her work on “Chicken Shop Date,” this was Dimoldenberg’s second year as social media ambassador and correspondent for the Oscars red carpet. Dimoldenberg donned a floor-length baby blue gown, accompanied by sparkly blue and gold accents. It was one of the more unique looks of the night, while still being beautiful and not too much.
3. Lisa
Lisa, known for being a part of “BLACKPINK” and now a member of the cast of “The White Lotus,” showed up in one of the night’s most creative looks: a suit-like, floor-length dress. Her look defied any and all trends of the night, with its simplicity, elegance and creativity helping it to stand out.
2. Rachel Zegler
Star of the upcoming live action “Snow White” film and the latest Broadway adaptation of “Romeo & Juliet,” Zegler wore a sleeveless, sparkly tulle-like gown, fit perfectly for Disney’s latest princess. She paired the look with simple, silver jewelry, tying the elegant, beautiful look together perfectly.
1. Demi Moore
Though she didn’t take home the best actress award, Moore certainly won in terms of red carpet looks. Moore rocked a stunning silver gown with a bit of a train, accompanied by earrings, a bracelet and ring to match. It’s simple but elegant; the only thing missing from the look is a guest appearance by her beloved dog, Pilaf.
Honorable mentions
While they didn’t make the list, there were a few other standout outfits that this would not be complete without. Halle Berry wore a stunning, mirror-like silver dress, Selena Gomez rocked an almost rose-gold ballgown, Michelle Yeoh donned a gorgeous, royal blue dress and Emma Stone dressed in a simple but elegant silver and white floor-length gown. Anok Yai, Raye, Lupita Nyong’o, Laura Dern, Timothée Chalamet, Scarlett Johansson and Marissa Bode also stunned on the carpet.
Vanity Fair
While they weren’t on the Oscars carpet itself, three celebrities rocked the Vanity Fair Oscar Party red carpet and must be given credit. Reneé Rapp stunned in a black, off-the-shoulders gown, Jenna Ortega donned a layered, ruched, flowy green dress? and Kathryn Hahn channeled a mirror in her floor-length, metallic dress.
As far as award show red carpets go, the 2025 Oscars were filled with dazzling, gorgeous looks, certain to take anyone’s breath away. Choosing a top 10 was far from easy, but everyone listed – and those who didn’t make the cut – absolutely served on the carpet this year.
