The Miami University RedHawks men’s basketball team (5-3) lost Friday’s matchup against the Indiana University Hoosiers (7-2) 76-57 at Assembly Hall.
Miami arrived in Bloomington coming off its third-straight win against Air Force. Junior guard Peter Suder scored a career-high 42 points to contribute to the RedHawks’ victory.
However, the Hoosiers held Suder to nine points, including one 3-pointer. Indiana only allowed sophomore wing Eian Elmer and first-year guard Luke Skaljac to score more than 10 points.
After the first half, the RedHawks stayed close to their Big Ten opponent. A free throw from Indiana junior forward Malik Reneau kept Indiana up 39-36, but Miami had come back from Indiana’s 14-3 lead at the start of the half.
However, the Hoosiers scored five straight to open the second half. Despite two 3-pointers from Suder and redshirt sophomore wing Kam Craft, Indiana dominated in the final 10 minutes by going on a 21-7 run to finish the game 76-57.
Along with 14 points, the highest of his career, Skaljac had four assists and shot 5-10 inside the arc and 2-4 from distance. Elmer led with three 3-pointers.
The RedHawks had eight turnovers, the lowest of any game this season. The team finished with three blocks and seven steals.
With one week until their next matchup, the RedHawks have time to rest and practice before the University of Vermont Catamounts (5-6) visit Millett Hall.
