The Miami University RedHawks faced off against University of Massachusetts Minutemen in a heated and intense Homecoming football game on Sept. 28. The Miami University Marching Band (MUMB), directed by Ryan Yahl, cheered them on from the stands, playing songs such as “7 Nation Army” and “Phantom of the Opera.” Each member of the band was adorned with large ponchos to shield themselves and their instruments from the gloomy weather, having been preparing for the game since 9 a.m. In addition to their performance in the stands, the band took the field for their performance of “Boogie Wonderland” by Earth, Wind and Fire. The halftime show also included an Honor Band, which allowed individual high school students to perform on the field. The game concluded in a win for the RedHawks, with a final score of 23-20.
