Miami student and family found dead in their home in Dublin

Content warning: This story contains mentions of self-harm and death.

On Monday, Feb. 6, Franklin County Coroner’s office released the autopsy report of Miami University student Anish Rajan Rajaram’s father Rajan Rajaram, which showed he died by suicide from a gunshot wound. The autopsies for Anish and his mother, Santhalatha Rajan have not been released yet, but at the time of the incident, police said all the family members died by firearm.

Officers responded to the family’s home in Dublin, Ohio on Jan. 18 around 2 a.m. after a friend of the residents requested a well-being check for the home. The Dublin Police Department said Anish and his parents had been dead for multiple days. Police did no find evidence of forced entry and suspected a double murder-suicide.

Anish, 19, was a sophomore accounting major in the Farmer School of Business. He graduated magna cum laude from Dublin Coffman High School before attending Miami. Anish was also an active member in Kappa Sigma and Pi Sigma Epsilon.

“We are devastated by this loss of life,” Miami wrote in a statement. “Our hearts go out to Anish’s family, friends, and all who knew him.”

The statement also encouraged students who need support to reach out to the Student Counseling Service, the Dean of Students office or the H.O.P.E (Help Over the Phone Everywhere) line.

The university will also share details about a memorial when that information becomes available.

This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
