Miami names new vice president for University Advancement

Brad Bundy has been named Miami University’s new vice president for University Advancement. The position oversees university fundraising and alumni and donor relations.

Bundy has more than 30 years of experience in higher education fundraising, including 21 years at Miami, with positions such as senior associate vice president for University Advancement and chief development officer of the Miami University Foundation.

Jessica Rivinius, senior director for News and Communications, said Bundy is the perfect candidate for this position.

“We are all so excited to have Brad appointed as vice president,” Rivinius said. “He is probably one of the most beloved people on this campus. He is so firmly committed to Miami’s Love and Honor, you can’t think of someone better to lead the division that’s out there promoting Miami, garnering support for Miami.”

Bundy has also held positions at Ohio State University (OSU), Ohio Wesleyan University and the University of Cincinnati Foundation.

In his years at Miami, Bundy has served in many leadership positions, including interim vice president of University Advancement in 2012.

In 2013, he served as campaign director for the For Love and Honor campaign, which raised money for scholarships, faculty supports, buildings/facilities and more. The campaign surpassed its goal of $500 million, raising $535 million.

After the announcement of his appointment, Bundy said he received an overwhelming amount of support.

“In many ways, the business of University Advancement is that of relationships,” Bundy said. “I feel really fortunate to have, through my tenure, developed a significant number of really strong relationships with many of Miami’s donors and alumni as well.”

Bundy received his Bachelor of Arts in political science from OSU. Although he didn’t graduate from Miami, he became an honorary alum in 2013. His wife received her master’s degree from Miami and is a visiting languages, literature and writing instructor at Miami Hamilton, and all of their four children are Miami alumni.

“I am extremely humbled and really excited to be given this opportunity, particularly at a place that has meant so much to my family and me,” Bundy said.

Rivinius said it’s an important time for Miami to have a leader like Bundy in University Advancement.

“This is a pivotal time for Miami as we enter into a campaign year, so we are so thrilled to have a seasoned professional that has such great support across campus at the helm,” Rivinius said.

Bundy plans to use the relationships he has built over the years to help support Miami in the coming years.

“It’s never been more important for Miamians to come together and to be part of moving the university ahead,” Bundy said. “To the extent that I can help facilitate that through my relationships with alumni, friends and donors, that’s what I intend to do.”
