A GreenHawks Goodbye

This week's content will be a series of pieces from this year's leadership team- enjoy!

By: Taylor McCann

During my freshman year when I accepted the Social Media and Marketing Manager position for GreenHawks Media, I knew that it would develop my professional communication skills and be a good resume booster-  what I didn’t know was that I would get the coolest roommate and sweetest friend out of it. Going into my position was definitely a little scary. I got a quick play-by-play from my predecessor, then was off of my own. It was a learning experience for sure, but one that helped me grow in many areas. I had so much fun working throughout the summer months designing marketing materials and chatting with Sofia and Caroline about the big goals and plans we had for GreenHawks Media. Despite the little (or big) bump in the road that remote learning brought, GreenHawks Media has had so many accomplishments throughout the year that are worth noting. This school year, we tripled our staff size, introduced five new photographers to our team and consistently published articles three times a week. Yes, Sofia, Caroline and my own work aided in these amazing successes, but if it wasn’t for our amazing staff, GreenHawks would not be where it is today. I want to say a big THANK YOU to all of the staff-writers, photographers and content creators who were involved with GreenHawks Media this year. Your passion for the environment is unmatched and we appreciate your dedication to the club more than you all know! Thank you all for writing such amazing articles and capturing such beautiful photos this year and continuing to crank out amazing work as the semester dwindles down. Getting to lead the GreenHawks team alongside Sofia and Caroline this school year has been an invaluable experience that I will cherish forever. I never imagined that I would be on an executive team in a college organization, but would you look at that! Here I am and I couldn’t be happier. To Sofia: I don’t think I have ever seen anyone work as hard as you do. Editing three plus articles every week, sitting on the Students in Sustainability Council, leading meetings, being involved in other organizations and having like a million majors and minors, you basically kept the whole club afloat and did it with so much grace. Your dedication to GreenHawks Media has proven successful, and I am so proud of all the things you accomplished for the club. Also, thank you for being the sweetest, coolest roommate ever. I miss eating Doughby’s with you and late night Pulley runs after hockey games. You rock!To Caroline: I remember not having a clue who you were when I was told you were this year’s business advisor (lol), but it has been so wonderful getting to know you better throughout this year. Working alongside you to successfully order marketing materials, plan a budget and 10th anniversary events has been very enjoyable! You’re such a sweet friend and I wish you all the best on your path to law school. To Helena, Shannon and Annie: I wish you three all the best in leading the GreenHawks team next year. You are all such intelligent and creative-minded individuals. I am looking forward to seeing what you bring to the table this coming year for GreenHawks Media. You got this!Peace out GreenHawks Exec. You’ll be missed. Plug-- join GreenHawks Media, you won’t regret it :)
