The newly-crowned Mid-American Conference Champions found out the site and date of their last game of the 2019 season, and they’ll have a distinct travel disadvantage.
Miami will play the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns in the LendingTree Bowl Jan. 6 in Mobile, Ala.
This is the first season in which the game will be sponsored by LendingTree. From 2016-2018, it was named the Dollar General Bowl. Miami's last bowl-game victory (2011) came in this game, when it was the GoDaddy.com Bowl.
While Louisiana will go 250 miles to Mobile, the RedHawks will trek 750 miles.
The contest, held at Ladd-Peebles Stadium, will be the first bowl game for Miami since 2016, when it lost to Mississippi State in the St. Petersburg Bowl.
This season, they started 1-3 before finishing the regular season 7-5. Saturday, they beat Central Michigan, 26-21, to claim the MAC title.
Louisiana, a member of the Sun Belt Conference, will enter with a 10-3 record. The Ragin’ Cajuns played in a bowl game just last season, losing to Tulane, 41-24. Saturday, they fell to Appalachian State in their conference championship.
The teams have nearly a month to prepare.
