NCAA regulations prevent players from engaging in athletically related activities for more than 20 hours per week, so when players put in additional hours of studying film and practicing, it's on their own time.
Some Miami players compare being a college football player to a full-time job, as football duties consume 25-30 hours per week. Add in the responsibilities that come with being a student enrolled in at least 12 credit hours, and it's a pretty hectic schedule.
Below is a breakdown of a typical day for a college football player:
5:00 a.m. Wake up
5:30 - 6:45 a.m. Lift
7:00 - 8:00 a.m. Medical treatment, breakfast
8:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Class
12:30 - 1:00 p.m. Lunch
1:00 - 1:45 p.m. Get taped and dressed for practice
2:00 - 2:45 p.m. Team meetings (watching film)
