On Saturday November 7, 2015 at the Marcum Conference Center from 9:30AM-1:00PM, Miami’s Institute for Environment & Sustainability will be hosting a symposium of environmental professionals. The goal of this symposium is to provide students with information about careers in environmental science and sustainability. For those of you who are considering entering the field of environment and sustainability after graduation, or just have an interest for environmental issues, this is an event that would be perfect for you!
The symposium will consist of a series of three panel discussions, each with three panelists that are alumni of the Institute for Environment & Sustainability. The topics of the panel discussions Local Government’s Role in Environmental Issues, Technical Support of Environmental Initiatives and Natural Resource Management and Regulatory Compliance. In between panel sessions, there will be 30 minute pauses during which attendees have the opportunity to network with the panelists. A list of panelists that will be present is provided below.
If you are unfamiliar with the IES, it is an institute within Miami University’s College of Arts and Science that offers three undergraduate co-majors, one minor and one professional masters degree. The goal of all five programs, according to IES’ mission statement, is “to educate students as professionals and global citizens through interdisciplinary programs in environmental science and sustainability, and to provide leadership in areas of research and outreach that address environmental problems and promote a more sustainable society.”
The symposium is a free event and light refreshments will be provided. All are both welcomed and encouraged to attend!
