The National Parks system was affected by the government shutdown that began on Tuesday, October 1, and ended Thursday, October 17. According to the Department of the Interior website, 401 national parks were closed, deterring an estimated 500,000 visitors and furloughing 20,000 park service employees. Ohio's own Cuyahoga Valley National Park was no exception.
