Miami University students would do well to vote for the re-election of Tim Derickson to his House of Representatives seat in the Ohio Legislature next month. Mr. Derickson, a Miami graduate, has introduced a bill to put a stop to low-income college students having to pay Ohio income tax on Pell Grants and Ohio College Opportunity Grants. Mr. Derickson has lined up 14 Republicans and 13 Democrats who have signed on as co-sponsors of the bill. The fact that Mr. Derickson has been able to bring Democrats and Republicans together to sponsor this bill is an excellent example of how the "system" is supposed to work.
Your votes for Tim Derickson in the general election next month as he seeks re-election to his seat in the Ohio House of Representatives from the 53rd District will help keep this important piece of legislation on track for passage.
