Intoxicated male breaks into CarQuest vehicle

On Friday morning at approximately 2:32 a.m., The Oxford Police Department responded to a report of disorderly conduct. An officer was dispatched to CarQuest Auto Parts on College Corner Pike after a caller said that a white male was beating on the glass of the building and running up and down the street. The caller also stated that the male kicked over an ashtray and set off the car alarm of the CarQuest delivery truck. When the officer arrived on the scene, he observed the truck parked in front of the door with its hazard lights on and the driver's seat window rolled down. A male matching the description given to officers was seated in the passenger seat and it appeared that the interior of the truck had been tampered with. The male, later identified as first-year Martin Kerscher Jr. only had one shoe on and appeared highly intoxicated. When the officer asked what he was doing there, Kerscher stated he was waiting for a friend who was inside the building. Kerscher, who thought he was on High Street, had scrapes on his knees but could not explain how he got them. Kerscher was arrested and charged with underage consumption and criminal mischief.

First-year hides beer from police officer

Sunday morning at about 12:15 a.m., an OPD officer was dispatched to 522 S. College Ave. to handle a noise and litter complaint. When the officer entered the residence he spotted a youthful looking male holding a can of beer. The male immediately tried to hide the beer and walk away from the officer. When asked how old he was, first-year Kevin Nicholson, stated he was 18 years old.  When the officer asked Nicholson for ID, he tried to run. According to OPD the officer held him against the wall and placed him under arrest for underage drinking and obstructing official business.
