Author to lecture at the Knolls about dementia

Author Anne Basting will give a lecture at the Knolls of Oxford Retirement Community at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 24 on creative techniques for engaging in activities with dementia patients.

The lecture is hosted by the Scripps Gerontology Center. Basting works in the theatre department at the Peck School of the Arts at the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee, as an associate professor and director of the Center on Age and Community. The American Association on Aging and the MetLife Foundation are sponsoring the lecture.

MU senior receives$10K astronaut scholarship

Miami University senior Iordan Ganev will be granted a $10,000 scholarship from the Astronaut Scholarship Foundation (ASF) Sept. 25. Al Worden, Apollo 15 astronaut and chairman of ASF, will present the award.

Worden will speak at 11 a.m. Sept. 25 in the Marcum Conference Center. Ganev will be presented with his check after the presentation.

Ganev, an Oxford native, is studying mathematics, statistics and environmental science and is a member of the university honors program. He has conducted research with a number of faculty members on the behavioral ecology of prairie voles, statistical models for ecological studies and algebra.

Ganev plans to pursue a doctorate in mathematics.

The directory is now available online. Located on the University Offices Web page at www.muohio.edu/university_offices, the directory includes offices, departments and unit department listings.

The listings are available in alphabetical order and are in a PDF as well as an online format that can be bookmarked. Previously, the directory was distributed once a semester. The directory will now be updated electronically every month.
