Students should support athletics

For every athletic program, there is a moment. A moment when it begins to turn the corner from just participating in a contest to the evolution of competing to win every play, down, yard and inch until victorious. Under the direction of our football coach, Michael Haywood, the RedHawks compete to win.

It's exciting watching the heroics of Zac Dysert as he runs and passes Miami's offense to first downs then to touchdowns. You can sense there is something happening here which will become something extremely special. What's next is NOW! Our program's future is happening now with the numerous underclassmen starting and contributing.

I watched the coaches' show after the win against Toledo. Coach Haywood mentioned that the support from the students - loud and wearing red - created the momentum for a come from behind Miami victory.

There are two more games to the Miami football season, both in Oxford at Yager Stadium. The moment is now for students - and for faculty - to see what the team is becoming - a competitive, disciplined and goal-driven group who plays hard for us, Miami.

See you this Thursday. Arrive early, be loud and wear red!

Love and honor,Megan McCarty Red Alert Presidentmccartmc@muohio.edu
