Miami University women's basketball had its season-long three game winning streak snapped Wednesday evening by the University of Akron, 67-55.
Miami (7-21, 4-13 Mid-American Conference) was flying high after it won a third straight game Saturday, but the high was quickly cut down on the road.
Akron (21-7, 11-6 MAC) needed a win to maintain the No. 3 seed, and a first round bye, for the MAC tournament.
The RedHawks got themselves into first half foul trouble. Senior guard Courtney Larson was the only starter to go the entire half without a foul.
Of the other four starters, freshmen guards Baleigh Reid and Kayla Brown had two, along with junior forward Hannah McCue.
Freshman forward Molly McDonagh had three.
As a team the RedHawks went into the locker room with 15 fouls.
Head coach Cleve Wright said the post players, McCue and McDonagh, getting into foul trouble really hurt the team.
Junior forward Jessica Rupright also got into foul trouble with three fouls in only seven minutes.
With the absence of those three, Wright gave redshirt sophomore Tamira Ford more minutes than she is accustomed to.
Ford played 12 first half minutes, matching her season average for an entire game.

Ford got into foul trouble herself, picking up three.
For Akron, the first half was all about senior forward Sina King. She had 16 of her 18 points in the first 20 minutes.
Sophomore guard Hannah Plybon would finish with a game-high 19 points to lead the Zips.
Wright thought the team came out "hesitant" in the second half and that Miami wasn't attacking the basket enough.
"We needed to be more aggressive and assertive," Wright said. "We didn't attack the basket as hard as we needed to."
Brown led the way for the RedHawks with 18 points.
Brown said she could see an overall improvement in the team, but that they still have room to grow.
"We expect that we can win," Brown said. "We're still making great strides."
Wright wanted the team to compete better, but was pleased with his teams ability to battle adversity.
"We fought through some adversity in the first half," Wright said.
The Red and White head to Athens, Ohio to finish the regular season up in the Battle of the Bricks with Ohio University.
The teams met once this season with the Bobcats (24-4, 15-2 MAC) winning, 67-45.
Sophomore guard Quiera Lampkins led the way for OU with 15.
Reid led Miami with 15, but was the only RedHawk in double figures.
Miami had 20 turnovers and was only 1 for 14 from beyond the arc in the first meeting.
Ohio has already claimed the No. 1 seed and a first round bye in the MAC Tournament.
Miami needs a win to clinch the No. 10 seed.
Tip is set for 2 p.m Saturday.
